Who may say what

Locally made food must name the manufacturer or packer (or rights owner or agent) with business address; imported food must name the foreign manufacturer or agent, the importer in Malaysia with business address, and the country of origin (reg 11(1)(j)); cosmetics must name the Cosmetic Notification Holder (CNH) with address and the country of manufacture.

Required food label wording must be in Bahasa Malaysia for food produced or packed in Malaysia and in Bahasa Malaysia or English for imported food (reg 10); cosmetic label information must be in Bahasa Malaysia and/or English on the outer (or immediate) pack, with full ingredient list, contents, batch number and date.

Nutrition claims, including absence or non-addition claims, are allowed only under regs 18A-18E of the Food Regulations 1985 and their conditions; the label owner (manufacturer, packer or importer named on pack) is answerable for them.
